Psychomotor (P.E.)
Course Description
Psychomotor: TBA
Please have students dressed in sports attire and proper athletic shoes on these days. I will notify students the day before so they can prepare for it. If possible, supply them with a water bottle to take out with them on these days.
Fifth grade is a critical grade physically. This is the first grade in which the students take a physical fitness state test called FITNESSGRAM. Students in grades five, seven, and nine take the fitness test. The main goal of the test is to help students in starting life-long habits of regular physical activity.
The FITNESSGRAM®is composed of the following six fitness areas, with a number of test options provided for most areas:
Aerobic Capacity
- PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run) or
- One-Mile Run
Abdominal Strength and Endurance
- Curl Up
Upper Body Strength and Endurance
- Push-Up or
- Modified Pull-Up or
- Flexed-Arm Hang
Body Composition
- Body Mass Index (generated by a computer, based on gender, height, and weight
Trunk Extensor Strength and Flexibility
- Trunk Lift
Flexibility
- Back-Saver Sit and Reach or
- Shoulder Stretch
Things you can do at home to help the students stay fit and ready for psychomotor:
Encourage them to jog
Encourage them to stretch
