Vanalden Ave. Elementary believes that parent participation is essential throughout the educational journey of their children.  The Vanalden staff support parents’ rights and responsibilities to ensure the success of their children. We believe that parents are equal partners in the education of their children. We stand behind the resolution adopted by the Board of Education in December 2010, which houses the strengths and contributions of families, seen as essential to the academic success of students, and recognizes parents are the first and most important teachers of their children for life.

At the Vanalden Parent Center we look forward to families that accept responsibility for student academic success, and are committed to a partnership that:

  • Maintains high expectations for academic achievement
  • Ensures that every child is ready for college and career
  • Promotes collaboration and productive conversation
  • Reflects mutual respect and support

The Parent Center is open every morning at 8:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.. Community members are always welcome at Vanalden Ave Elementary.  Anyone entering or leaving the Parent Center must sign in during the school day.

There are many projects that will require the help of parent volunteers. We encourage you to support us with other parents for half an hour to offer a much needed service to our school staff.

There are also excellent resources for parents available. We have a series of educational workshops for parents throughout the school year. During this time, you can get the latest information about our activities and the school district. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and interact with other parents, Mrs. Mira,TSP/CPA Coordinator, and Miss Yang, Principal.

Our Parent Center ensures a strong partnership to support and enable all parents to avail themselves in multiple opportunities for participation.
