Second Grade Assignments

 Spelling word search....and study for Friday's spelling test.  This word search is for review and does not need to be turned in.

 Use the remaining 6 words...the ones you didn't use yesterday, to make a short story or 6 more sentences.  You may illustrate your story or your favorite sentence.

Create a super sentence using a spelling word in it!  Then create 5 more sentences with a different word in each.  You will write six sentences for this assignment.

Homework to be completed Tuesday night was to write a sentence or more about how to manage stress.  The writing can be illustrated!

 Math workbook page - we are investigating the relationship between addition and subtraction this week and will be taking today's knowledge to learn about fact families later in the week.  We will explore the idea that the basic ideas we have learned can apply to larger numbers as well.

In math today, we reviewed the ideas from yesterday (add in any order, 0 is a number), and then focused on doubles.

 Math workbook page - We are reviewing the idea of addition.  In addition, we can add given numbers in any order, but we need to keep the digits in proper place value positions.  We can break a number apart to make addition easier.

 

If it hasn't been returned yet, please complete the parent/guardian pack and send it in with your student as soon as possible!

 

We discussed postcards today.  We talked about why people don't really use postcards any more.  When we saw postcards in a story, we were able to conclude that the story wasn't written recently.  We also discussed capital letters and proper nouns, as well as what makes a story plot.
